Ramune: a popular Japanese soft drink for over 100 years
Ramune has been enjoyed in Japan since the 1880s when it was created by the Scottish pharmacist Alexander Cameron Sim.
After living for many years in the expat neighborhoods of Kobe, Sim developed a lemonade formulation that was to be used to prevent cholera.
The health drink he produced became a runaway success, due in part to its unique Codd-neck bottle with a marble inside!
