The acclaimed Studio Ghibli, behind award-winning films like Castle in The Sky and My Neighbor Totoro, recently opened a theme park.

Fans worldwide are now flocking to Aichi Prefecture to see the imaginative attractions of Ghibli Park that recreate many of the scenes and characters of Hayao Miyazaki’s animations.

But nearby accommodation options are limited, and the park’s location is not easily accessible. In this article, I share the 5 best hotels for Ghibli Park.

5 Best Hotels for Ghibli Park

Ghibli Park is one of Japan’s newest theme parks, so, understandably, there are few nearby or on-site hotels instead.

Ghibli Park has partnered with some of the big Nagoya hotels, like the Nagoya Gate Tower Hotel and the Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel, as primary accommodation options.

However, some hotels are much closer than the big city hotels. Neighboring cities in Aichi Prefecture, like Seto and Tokai, have hotels closer to Ghibli Park, especially if you drive.

Availability in these cities is likely to be better than in central Nagoya, and the prices are lower too.

Here are my top picks.

1. Seto Park Hotel

Nearest airportNagoya Airport (10 miles)

It is not easy to find somewhere nearby to stay near Ghibli Park, but this Seto hotel is one of the closest options.

Rather than go through the ordeal of driving out of Nagoya, opt for a 20-minute drive out of Seto to get to the park, which is one of the quickest times for nearby accommodation.

This hotel is just 8 minutes from Owari-Seto Station and a further 50 minutes from the center of Nagoya.

The air-conditioned ensuite rooms are clean and comfortable, and there is free Wi-Fi and a delicious breakfast for the duration of your stay.

This hotel is also more affordable than many of the Nagoya options that have been filling up with bookings since Ghibli Park opened to the world in 2022.

2. Guesthouse TOHO

This popular guesthouse is another great find for Studio Ghibli fans who are struggling to find a booking in Nagoya.

Guesthouse TOHO is located in the suburbs of Nagoya, just 30 minutes away from Ghibli Park’s rather obscure Aichi location.

Now that Ghibli Park is open, people are taking a closer look at this clean and spacious Guesthouse that offers comfortable and affordable accommodation for groups of up to 6 guests.

The guest house offers single-sex dormitory rooms, family rooms, twins, and singles.

You can use the property’s free Wi-Fi and prepare meals in the communal kitchen.

Guests love the relaxed vibe, and friendly welcome from the international students who work in the hostel.

3. Tabist Samotokan Owariasahi

This Tokai hotel is more than 45 minutes away from Ghibli Park, but it is one of the better options for access to Ghibli Park.

The Kato Hotel provides comfortable accommodation after the long journey you’ll have to make, including a relaxing sauna and complimentary bikes for exploring the locality.

The Western and Japanese rooms of the Kato are compact but well-furnished, with a fridge, kettle, desk, and free Wi-Fi provided.

The Route Inn Grantia Tokai Spa & Relaxation is another affordable Tokai hotel closer to Ghibli Park than many central Nagoya accommodation options.

This three-star hotel offers double, twin, and triple rooms with ensuite facilities, a kettle, a fridge, and free Wi-Fi.

Staff are reported to be extremely attentive and serve a delicious breakfast buffet every day.

There are also spa facilities and a hot spring bath for guests to enjoy.

The area surrounding the hotel is peaceful and pleasant, with Oike Park across from the hotel entrance.

In Conclusion

The opening of Ghibli Park has been a big deal for Aichi prefecture, which will surely see tourist numbers swell in the coming years.

However, Ghibli Park’s location is a little awkward, and it will take time for transport links like the shuttle busses set up by Seto’s municipal government or the taxi transfers arranged by hotels in Toyota to become established.

So in the meantime, stay in these nearby hotels and be prepared to drive or pay for a taxi to Ghibli Park and back.
